there'll be some changes made...
Mar. 13th, 2004 02:17 pmWhen we last left our hero... Jesus, it was February the last time I updated. OK. Let's see if I can't get everyone up to speed:
I'm mostly done with Anal Perf. My final performance went pretty well considering that I got sick (more on that later) and prepared for it essentially not at all. My five-page paper on the final performance flowed from me like, say, a beautiful and fibrous bowel movement and was done in under an hour. Would that all my work at this school were so easy. There remains only another, final five-page essay, this time in response to one of three entirely bullshit busywork questions. I'm annoyed at this assignment for existing but will hardly labor over it. Its due Tuesday 3/16.
I still have a 20-page paper to write. Given that I had done hardly any work on this paper at all, aside from the basics (getting research materials, reading them, marking up some quotes) I gave a surprisingly good defense of my paper on Wednesday. Still, the paper remains unwritten and due on Monday 3/15. I can probably get away with 18 pages, but I'll probably have to buckle down and go into super-writing mode on Sunday.
If I have mono then I will murder someone. I probably don't, tho. But I woke up on Monday feeling very fatigued and with a sore throat. The fatigue has diminished steadily, the sore throat not so much. I was pretty good about Vitamin C and fluids the first couple of days, lately not so much. I also ate BK yesterday and Hunan Springs and thus threw up this morning. I'm still debating whether there's anything seriously wrong with me, which would suck, but I'll probably have to give it a few more days to know for sure.
Good times are on the horizon. My girlfriend's roommate, the ubiquitous Winifred, is going home today. My own darling roommate Josh is leaving on Wednesday. After Tuesday I don't have any academic commitments whatsoever. I leave early Saturday morning. Sam leaves on Friday, and I believe her serious exams are over Tuesday although she has some BS ones Thursday. Draw your own conclusions. Now if I can just get rid of this damned illnesss.
Vacation in the tropics, anyone? For anyone who hasn't heard this story by now - for the past approximately three years my entire immediate family has been congregating in beautiful St. John's for a week of leisure in the sun. And they've always done it based on my little sister's schedule, so it has always come during my finals week. Cruel trick, right? But this year her vacation finally synchs up with mine so I get to come too! I'm psyched beyond the telling of it.
That about brings us up to speed. Watched the Substitute with Blue and George last night. We all enjoyed it thoroughly. I mean, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable calling it a good movie or anything. It contained all of the shortcomings of an action movie taking itself seriously. But really it contained them perfectly, and thus delivered twice as much as I could have expected from it. If you're into that sort of thing, I recommend it.
That's all for now. Hopefully I can get back on a regular update schedule.
