This weekend was thoroughly enjoyable, even if weekends as a concept are sort of losing meaning for me. My temporary job finally sputtered to a close on Friday afternoon, and I must admit I couldn't be happier about it. I don't like being poor and unemployed, but I feel free.

Friday I chatted with [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall about my plan to come up and visit him and then ended up staying in Connecticut for the night and going to see Sideways, which was quite good. Saturday I got going around midday and went up to [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall's place in Boston. We hung around and went out for dinner and drinks, leading to what is already taking shape in my head as the infamous story. So the evening went well for me overall (I got free drinks out of it), but for Jon not so much.

Sunday we rearranged the furniture in preparation for a handful of people stopping by to watch the Superbowl on Jon's big-ass flatscreen TV, in high definition no less. We ended up watching some poker on television, and eventually mid-afternoon Allen showed up and we put on the Puppy Bowl in the background while we played some poker ourselves. (Incidentally, by "poker" I of course mean no-limit Texas Hold 'Em. We didn't play for real money, sadly, just for kicks.) The game sort of continued as Jon's former college roommate showed up, followed closely by his co-worker [livejournal.com profile] babablacksheep. The five of us played a bit more poker until kickoff time, when we settled in to watch the game with, frankly, nail-biting intensity. Go Pats!

Today I eventually woke up (around 11:30 I think) with the slightest of hangovers from my rum consumption the previous night. I drove home and haven't accomplished much of anything, unless you count driving my baby sister to hockey. Hooray for unemployment!
