this is Ground Control to Major Tom...
Feb. 13th, 2005 11:59 amI caught the Life Aquatic last night with Will, who's back in town for the weekend. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Its certainly not my favorite Wes Anderson movie; that distinction belongs solely to the Royal Tenenbaums, at this point. But Will and I certainly laughed our asses off, particularly at the antics of Willem Dafoe. And we were both astounded that the soundtrack consists primarily of David Bowie songs covered in Portuguese (apparently) by some guy named Seu Jorge with an accoustic guitar.
We were also both astounded when, about five minutes into the movie, two people tromped up the steps into the row behind us (which happened to be the last row, we were in a smaller theater), sat down in the seats sort of just over Will's left shoulder, and promptly started having sex. They left about half an hour later (finished, presumably), but I must say this is the first time that's happened to me (that I've noticed, anyway.) Ah, Hartford.
