When I last posted I really ought to have been packing, because by the time I got around to throwing all my stuff into a bag and heading for Boston I was nearly an hour late. When [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall called me on my cell as I was driving up and I had to confess this fact I was feeling fairly chagrined, but it turns out that his call had more to do with his desire to be on vacation than his actual preparedness to leave. When I arrived at his apartment he was himself still putting the finishing touches on his packing. We loaded up a car and headed, somewhat uncertainly, for New Hampshire.

We met up with [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall's father that night at his parent's timeshare, a really nice place about half an hour away from Waterville Valley where we were intending to ski. In an ideal world we would've gone immediately to sleep, but we were both somewhat keyed up and neither of us was much in the mood for it. So the next day we awoke bleary-eyed and trudged up to the mountain to rent skis and buy lift tickets (which we did, at rather exorbitant expense, many thanks to my parents for funding that as a birthday present to me.) Somehow in the midst of this we ended up buying an unlimited rental pass for the rest of 2005, because it only cost $3 more than the three-day rental. No, I don't know why we did that either.

Skiing was excellent, though we were all somewhat saddened to discover how out of shape we were. [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall stiffened up after not too long on Tuesday and I found myself extremely fatigued. All in all this made for an excellent vacation in my opinion. We arrived home from a day of skiing, collapsed and sat around watching television and making periodic forrays to the hot tub or to the kitchen for food. Truth be told we really only went skiing for two of our three days -- by the third neither of us was feeling much up to moving so we went back to bed for two hours.

Yesterday I got back into town a bit earlier than I had anticipated ([livejournal.com profile] sleetfall had to work briefly in the afternoon, so I more or less dropped him off and came home.) After a bit of rattling around my entirely empty house (my baby sister is in Paraguay, and my parents have gone to Florida to visit my grandparents. Even the dog was in the kennel 'till I came and freed her this afternoon) I decided to get some takeout Chinese. Then I rented the first two Harry Potter movies and settled in for a quiet evening of escapism with myself. No sooner had I done so then [livejournal.com profile] tabascosea called to tell me it was her last night in town on Spring Break and would I like to see her?

So after a phone conversation that stretched on entirely too long I ended up driving over to her mother's place. After a bit of deliberation she went out for vegan Mexican food while I drank water and mooched her guacamole, having myself already eaten the afore-mentioned takeout Chinese. It was really good to see her and talk to her, all things considered. I have always enjoyed her company. And it prevented me from plunging into another worthless fit of moping and depression that I had unwittingly been working on.

There's another post in me somewhere... a post about that depression. About what I'm doing with my life, my plans to go to work for Kaplan (wish me luck on my audition on Tuesday) and to go back to school at DePaul (if I can get my head out of my ass and figure out how exactly one does that.) And about the fact that in two days its Ostara, and I turn twenty-three. I've reached the stage in my life where individual years no longer especially matter. I am not my precise age, I'm in my twenties, as they say. And for the Northwestern kiddies its Spring Break time now, and its dawning on me however gradually that I've wasted half a year not accomplishing much of anything. I'm sick to death of it, and maybe for once that means something, and maybe I'm going to do something about it.

An actual coherent post about that will have to wait, however, until it gels a bit more. Anyway I should see if I can't hunt up something to do for myself tonight.
