enthusiastick: (defying gravity)
Been a little while since I've posted. I was initially holding off until I could make the next post in my livejournal from my new sublet in the 02135 area code (which I am currently doing.) But I moved in earlier this week, so I can't really explain why I haven't updated 'till now. Its not like I've been too busy, honestly. I mean, I've been moderately busy, especially this weekend, which makes me happy. But nowhere near too busy for LJ.

Alright, the past week in review: Monday I had my first evening of Kaplan training. It went pretty well, my class seems relatively cool, and I think I could be good at this job. Although I am sad to say I sort of already hate the cult of Kaplan a little, but I can play act as though I don't well enough to hold the job down. Monday night I crashed at [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall's, then woke up Tuesday morning to rent a Budget van and drive to Cape Cod where I snagged a futon and the much-coveted orange leather chair from our basement there. My father has long insisted that the chair would never be mine, but it was just gathering dust in the basement, and my mother said I could have it... I'm sitting in it as we speak.

Tuesday evening [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall helped me throw the furniture into my new room, and I signed my sublease and got keys. Then I returned to Jon's and met his Mage game, which I unexpectedly joined that night (unexpected in that it happened that night, I was expecting to join in the future.) Of course I didn't sleep in the new room; I crashed at Jon's again, and then Wednesday morning returned to Connecticut where I had left the bulk of my stuff. I had one final dinner with my family Wednesday night, and Thursday morning I got started packing up the things I would actually need to live here (like, y'know, this computer and, uh, clothes other than t-shirts, socks and underwear.)

Thursday night I hung out with Jon once more, and then at around 10:30 hauled my butt downtown to a party being held by one Stephanie Karban. At said party I consumed many drinks and hung out with Tara and some other random people 'till the wee hours. Then I took a cab home (stupid T, not running at all hours of the night), learned which keys opened which locks on my new front door, and stumbled into bed. Friday night Jon had invited me to tag along at a birthday party for his friend Shelby ([livejournal.com profile] amuronomiko I believe, for those of you playing the home game) with a bunch of people, mostly the Brandeis geek set. They're good folks. So we drove out to Cheesecake Factory and met up with them -- they were hanging out in the adjacent Borders waiting for the table to be ready.

Dinner Friday night was a good time, so I slept in a bit on Saturday. When I finally got up and showered and such I ended up meeting up with Jon and also Robbie, who was up visiting for the weekend. Robbie had brought along his new girlfriend Amanda, who both Jon and I clearly approve of immensely. We bummed around for a while, hung out at the Otherside Cafe and enjoyed the waning sunshine of what had clearly been quite a nice day. Then we eventually made our way back to Jon's apartment, where we made burgers and played poker. [livejournal.com profile] amuronomiko and Travis (as far as I know he's [livejournal.com profile] lordameth -- hooray for everyone having LJs) joined us for the poker, and so we had quite a good game going. I lost on the River in the final hand (at like 2 AM no less), but I still feel like I played well.

That pretty much brings us up to date.
