you're always talking 'bout whoah
Jun. 3rd, 2005 03:29 pmIts been kind of a weird week. Good, but weird.
The weekend in Cape Cod was fantastic. It was just great to hang out with my family, eat lots of good food, and even get a chance to lay in the sun a little. My parent's new boat is, well, new and shiny. I will miss the old one, but its deeply pleasing to see how excited my Dad gets about his new toy, so I am happy for him.
I unexpectedly ended up back home in CT Monday in order to retrieve the dress shirts that go with my suit for my multitude of potential interviews this week (more on that later.) I ended up hanging out with
lady_eleret for a while, which was... um. Well, good bits and bad bits. Tuesday morning I drove back to Boston because in the afternoon there was about a 50% chance I had an interview with the commercial underwriting department at Liberty Mutual. I turned out not to have the interview after all, although while I was downtown I did discover that 175 Berkeley Street is very literally across the street from where
sleetfall works.
That knowledge proved very useful to me on Thursday, when I did have two interviews in the morning. Of course they were both informational interviews, which is a fancy way of saying I interview with someone who becomes a potential contact even though they don't actually have a job for me just at the moment. Informational interviews can be a tad frustrating at times. I had two, as I mentioned, one with a guy in Marketing which went really well (I learned a bunch of interesting things about how the company is organized) and one with a girl who's currently in the HR program that was just kind of blah. I'm not sure I'm cut out for HR after all, we'll see. Anyway, after my interviews I had lunch with
sleetfall, which was very nice.
That about brings us up to date in terms of things actually accomplished this week. Oh, and I am also apparently a regular at Tonic now, because
sleetfall and I keep meeting for a drink there when he gets out of work. Its not really my kind of place, but they do get a lot of credit for the fact that they've started to float us the occasional free drink because we just keep showing up every day.
Oh, and last night, I had the most bizarre and entirely unhealthy dreams. Yeah.
