curse of the common cold
Sep. 12th, 2005 02:26 pmI have a cold, and as a result I didn't do all that much this weekend. It appears to be mild, which is a blessing. Saturday and Sunday I was just sort of dried out with a runny nose, but today its really hitting me hard. My nose is stuffed up, and I have a headache that won't go away no matter what I do.
Saturday I did some housekeeping, including stealing a television stand from my aunt & uncle. The apartment is really starting to come together. Everything finally has some place where its supposed to go when its put away, and even if there's never yet been a single moment where every last thing was in its place, I still feel better knowing that it could theoretically happen.
Saturday night I went out to Lincoln to meet up with
thablueguy and k80. Eventually more Prophet's Fall people filtered in to scope out the prop workshop Blue's set up in his garage for the upcoming event. Then we all took k80 out for pancakes, as it was her last night in town prior to heading back to college in (I think) Vermont. I don't know the girl that well, but she definitely seemed happier that night than when I first met her.
By Sunday the sickness was starting to take hold, so I mostly lazed around the apartment and did a lot of laundry. I also watched the second season of Entourage, as for the time being I have free HBO. I do really like that show quite a bit, and may have to acquire it in some more permanent fashion in the future. In the evening I put in a call to
sleetfall, who is back in the country from China (apparently I had my dates a little mixed up.) He seems remarkably put together and unafflicted by jet lag. Apparently as it turns out he travels like a machine.
I'm being "sequestered" this week. The trainee underwriters from throughout the company are assembling at the Jury's hotel in Boston Tue-Thu for networking and joint training sessions. This is supposed to be an opportunity to meet young underwriters from Wassau and business markets, and I am trying to look upon it as such. Given my slightly irritable mood due to illness, however, I'm mostly looking at it as three days sucked clean out of my life. I have to be in a class at 8:30 AM tomorrow morning, and I'm on the schedule 'till 4:30 Thursday afternoon, only leaving the hotel for organized group activities.
I have no idea what the status of potential internet access is going to be, particularly given my lack of a laptop. So if I drop off the e-mail and LJ radar entirely, that's why.
