enthusiastick: (defying gravity)
Allow me to post a quick follow-up to the first-ever Because Its Wednesday (which is something that, my self-deprecating joking aside, I'd actually kind of like to get into the habit of doing.) I was talking with [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall about various turns of phrase we had tried and abandoned, and he mentioned that he had given up on using "aces" because people insisted that he couldn't pull it off.

Let me just say, to him and to everyone: don't ever worry about that with me. Don't ever be afraid to be loud and proud, balls to the wall, who you want to be. I may in the past have been guilty of telling people they couldn't pull something off, but no more. We should all be allowed to develop whatever peculiar atavistic dialect suits us best. If [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall wants to be 1920s guy, more power to him.

That's about it for the moment. Tried to get my Exalted game going again last night, having settled on Thursdays as the day that's going to work for everyone moving forward. Only it didn't work for everyone, and thus a decision was made to explore the viability of a B game. We'll see. Oh, and in the process of attending the Exalted session that wasn't, I begged off of free drinks at a work party and missed seeing [livejournal.com profile] thablueguy before he left the state. Hurrah.

But I'm over all that. Y'know why? Something familiar, something peculiar, something for everyone -- Serenity! Tonight!
enthusiastick: (bad day?)
Holy shit.

(I saw Serenity tonight. Don't worry, what follows is guaranteed 100% spoiler-free.)

To borrow [livejournal.com profile] sleetfall's metaphor, I feel like someone just gave me a cake and then kicked me in the balls.

Holy shit.

I hate to mix metaphors, and use one that's so cliche, but that was an emotional roller coaster. It was beautiful, and funny, and poignant, and above all cathartic.

And I mean, it was a really good cake. But there was also ball-kicking.

Holy shit.

(Don't worry, the shock will wear off eventually. And let's all take a moment to reflect happily on the fact that if this movie does anything like what I think its capable of, then there are only three words you need to worry about: BIG DAMN TRILOGY.)
