I can't wake anymore in your arms
Oct. 11th, 2005 02:38 pmWell, as predicted, I'm feeling better today than I was yesterday.
Today at work is just dragging, though, no question. The weather remains rainy and just cool enough to be annoying. And I'm a bit on the tired side, as I stayed up a little too late watching season 6 West Wing on Bravo. They really did start to bring the funny back a bit in season 6, the show started to get genuinely good again.
Interesting side note: Bravo was promoting some sort of marathon of these episodes, apparently they're new to syndication or something (I think they just use blocks of the show whenever they're low on programming, but that's just my impression.) Anyway they showed a trailer during every commercial break that included a montage of many of the dramatic high points of the season.
And y'know... if you watch that moment where Leo bellows in heart attack pain and clutches a tree enough times, it starts to loose some of its emotional resonance. Its a fairly moving scene in context, done very artfully with minimal sound and a couple of false crescendos of tension. But out of context, if you watch it enough time, it just looks odd. In fact if you watch it often enough (and apparently I did) its actually kind of funny.
Anyway. Throw on top of that mix the fact that I sort of have tomorrow off (its a day of travel, with a flight out to Chicago in the morning and then a reception at the hotel that isn't until dinner time), and this day just can't end fast enough. Plus somewhere in the back of my brain I'm sort of distantly aware that, hooray, I get to knock around Chicago this weekend and even go to a Witch Hunt party Saturday (thank you
rollick!) That is of course presuming that my Witch Hunt party curse doesn't rear its ugly head, knock on wood.
I just have to make it through today. Keep my head down and read, and not fall asleep. Sounds simple...
