Woke up today to the pleasant surprise of my Classics class being cancelled. Professor Syson continues to be British and adorable. Her e-mail announcement to the class proclaimed: I'm sorry - I ate something which has brought unpleasant consequences, so I have to cancel class. Aww... poor little British woman with food poisoning. Anyway.

Troy sucked. If you haven't made the mistake of seeing it already, don't.

The rest of my life is going well. [livejournal.com profile] pax_malificus's Mage game continues to go swimmingly, although the whole crew had something of a bittersweet moment last game as we bade farewell to [livejournal.com profile] rollick's character. It seems unlikely she'll rejoin the game anytime soon, which means I've lost my weekly opportunity to see [livejournal.com profile] rollick (the player, not the character, I mean). Sad.

I downloaded the last episode of Angel (title: Don't Fade Away) overnight, having only relatively recently caught up on the roughly three weeks I've missed because of film screenings for Classics. The penultimate episode (Power Play) was pretty super-intense and appears to set up the finale fairly neatly. Thus far I've heard only good things about the last episode, so I'm hoping that its good... I'm resisting the temptation to watch it without [livejournal.com profile] spreadnparanoia. But I hope she doesn't make me wait too long.

Also sad. At least I got to leave on an awkward, bitter note.

Where are you downloading these episodes? We stopped watching Angel mid-season when we cancelled our cable, but I'm curious about the series end.

I allow my machine to become a temporary slave to BitTorrent and download them utilizing the network of the nice folks at http://www.buffy.nu/ . I still have most of this season in huge high-resolution files if you'd like some burned CDs rather than having to wait about 8 hours per episode.

So which episodes do you need?

Dunno. I stopped watching after Spike went to hell, but before he became tangible again. Probably more than half the season, really. Though the ones I actually want to see are primarily the last couple — the series end, and the episode that set it up.

That is, in fact, more than half the season that you've missed. Erf. The completist in me says you need to go back at least as far as A Hole In The World (episode 15). That way you'll actually know who Ilyria is, and she's sort of important. But then you'll still be missing out on some of the things referenced in the penultimate episode (i.e. they reference Cordelia's return in Thank You, which is episode 12).

If you just want burns of episodes 21-22 (Power Play and Not Fade Away, respectively) I can hand them over to you. But my guess is you won't get as much out of them not knowing what's going on. Typical Whedon that way.

I'm perfectly happy to take all the Angel you wanna gimme, I just don't want to put you to the trouble of burning me 20 discs. Maybe we should just have a viewing party or two. I know Chris is moderately interested in Angel and is also without cable. We might be able to find others.

You know how bad I am about making decisions and/or organizing things.

Hm. Between us, Bob, Chris and I are relatively good about such things. We could forcibly co-opt you. Do these things have to be watched on a computer?

Or a DivX player, which Blue owns in the form of a modded X-box and is sometimes happy to loan. They're high-res enough that they look fine on a full-sized TV screen.

Funny how these sorts of conversations are usually conducted via e-mail instead of in an LJ reply. I'm not complaining, its just funny.

Oh, I've seen a lot of conversations like this on LJ. Sometimes between two non-me people in the comments section of my journal posts. That's the one that always weirds me out.

I'll attempt to verify whether Chris has any interest in this. If not, Bob and I can doubtless make do with the files at home.

We should watch the last episode sometime soon. I know your willpower tends towards weakness where Angel is concerned. I'd be up for having a series wrap-up gathering too if that's in order.
