Its been an interesting few days since I took my last exam. I've done a whole lot of nothing. Played some Mordheim with [livejournal.com profile] pax_malificus and [livejournal.com profile] inediblebuddha. Got annoyed when I discovered that [livejournal.com profile] bobbler is a huge copycat. On the plus side, I won on eBay a full metal boxed set of the Cult of the Possessed for $10 cheaper than Games Workshop would have sold it to me. Take that [livejournal.com profile] bobbler.

I also had a really excellent session of [livejournal.com profile] pax_malificus's M:tA game, guest starring [livejournal.com profile] attackmonkey. After some prodding from [livejournal.com profile] pax_malificus I actually managed to get into character in a way that wasn't 100% snarky, which can be difficult with the character I play. [livejournal.com profile] attackmonkey was hellaciously good at setting the mood, and in the end I left a little creeped out and very inspired. Now I just have to figure out how to translate that into my character's life, and how much he will be able to change at one time.

After that I caught the midnight showing of Chronicles of Riddick with [livejournal.com profile] pax_malificus and [livejournal.com profile] inediblebuddha. We were supremely unimpressed all around. It was a very pretty movie, but it failed to grip me even a little bit. I think part of the reason it just didn't stick in my mind at all was that it lacked plot twists - the storyline got to 4 or so places which were practically beacons calling down plot twists, and non materialized. Ho hum. At least it was visually stunning, and gave me some interesting special effects ideas.

The past couple of days I've been hanging out at [livejournal.com profile] lassarina's place (OK, OK, its also [livejournal.com profile] timeshaper's place, same difference.) I've played a whole lot of Legend of Zelda: the Windwaker and am now at a point where I just have to tackle the hard stuff, tie up a few sidequests, and finish the game. So I'm stalling being a completist and collecting pieces of heart. Go me. We also watched the end of Buffy Season 4 last night. Restless is definitely one of my all-time favorite episodes of that show. Last night it almost displaced the Zeppo, but in the harsh light of day the Zeppo triumphed.

I'm starting to fashion a chronicle in my head. It will involve, as all my games do, a whole lot of borrowing. It will also involve a lot of genre stuff I'm not sure I can accomplish. But the idea is there nevertheless, burbling and poking at me. Maybe I will just write the whole thing and never run it - I've done that before.

Earlier today, [livejournal.com profile] lassarina asked me if she had anything to do tomorrow aside from check her grades. I answered "no," and realized that's not quite true. Both of us have the rest of our lives to worry about. I have no job, and I have utility bills sitting on my desk. Some of them are already overdue or close, and since I'm the only one staying here over the summer they appear to be entirely my responsibility. I don't wanna grow up. I wish I could just de-stress, take a few days off, but some part of my brain refuses to let me. Bah.

What on earth are you talking about, Rob? I was gonna play CotP ages before you were. How does that make me a copycat?
