our love surpassed our love so fast

Anyone who knows me knows that I love dollar coins. I think the Sacagawea dollar coins are fantastic for flipping, but more than that I think that dollar bills are utterly useless things. I may be a hopeless Europhile but the fact of the matter is nothing would make me happier than to see the US mint stop printing new dollar bills, take them out of general circulation, and replace them with $1 and $2 coins. I suppose abolishing the penny might possibly make me happier. And doing both at once might push me over the edge into gibbering braindead glee, but, well, there you have it.
That said,
theferrett has recently posted a quick rant on the overwhelming hideousness of the newly minted dollar coins. And its true. So painfully, horribly true.

Date: 2007-02-13 09:00 am (UTC)I suppose that is simply a matter of the level of transactions I see in a day, and the fact that I notice these coins spending more or less because they make me feel like I'm spending real money, but really, I think it's because coins say "I'm heavy. Spend me and get me out of your pocket."
