I dunno about in the comics, but in the Batman Beyond cartoon the elderly Bruce Wayne has a great dane. And even though its supposedly named Ace (aka Ace the Bat-Hound, from the comics) there's an in-joke among some friends of mine that his name is actually Alfred.
