Time for the belated obligatory post-Thanksgiving post. Thanksgiving itself went very well. My new (used) car made the trek to and from Needham without incident. The meal was excellent, as was meeting my cousin's baby (the first in a whole new generation for the Davis family.) Aside from a brief verbal sparring match about the merits and shortcomings of Hillary R. Clinton which got slightly heated (thanks in no small part to my Aunt and Grandfather arguing two ends of the political spectrum) family strife was minimal (and I believe my sister Sarah's level-headedness got the point regarding Mrs. Clinton that I would have wanted to make across.)

The three-day weekend was blissful and afforded me the opportunity to see many friends, although sadly Jon Horowitz was eaten alive by his thesis. His remains were returned to Bates without my having a chance to see them. I did catch up with Jon, Sara, Salomé, Aisha, Tara and Kate, however, so it was hardly a total loss. In point of fact Saturday I did hardly anything but watch movies on television, but it was a much-needed break. Sunday I went to [livejournal.com profile] syganzychick's for the weekly D&D game. My Dwarf Fighter achieved third level, wihch means its time to select a Feat yet again... I'm thinking about Two Weapon Defense unless someone has an alternative from Sword & Fist to suggest.

D&D remains definitely a good time socially but a comparatively unrewarding gaming experience (no offense intended to my very capable GM, the problem lies mostly between pretentious me and D&D), so I was tickled when [livejournal.com profile] devringalbrath's leaving early for rehearsal prompted a conversation about Exalted and the game I'm trying to get together. Although the game isn't coming together quite like I'd hoped it would I was convinced to run a combat demo, which I hope went passably well and perhaps whet the appetites of those in the group. Hard to say. I told Dave A that I'd start some prelude stuff with him this week and hopefully I'll keep to that.

Not much else to report, all told. The bloom is off the rose with regards to my job, and only working three days last week means this week already seems crushingly long by comparison. I like having an income but I don't like getting up and going to work in the morning - although honestly a large chunk of my job is pleasantly mindless driving. But I still say I'd be doing a lot better if I were back at home in Chicago with my friends, even if I were doing the same crappy work for the same low wage. I'm more than ready to move on from the state of my birth and the house I spent my unfortunate teenage years in.
