[personal profile] enthusiastick
Yesterday I gave in to temptation and added Wapsi Square to my daily webcomics trawl (which, for the curious, lives here.) I'm starting to feel guilty that I'm increasingly focused on strips that are fairly soapy (QC, S*P, Smithson and Mt. Foob spring immediately to mind.) And I've got a sneaking suspicion that I read Wapsi Square mostly for the biouxbies. (Yes, that's another neologism I've stolen from Websnark, more specifically from [livejournal.com profile] weds. I like it a lot.) I will cop to thinking Monica is cute (both conceptually and in execution, i.e. the actual artwork.)

There's a veritable multitude of strips in existence, and I read a statistically insignificant minority of them. People are forever recommending webcomics to me, comics of weight and heft and alleged greatness. There are even a number of strips I don't read that the whole community, such as it is, seems to regard as actually important. Most of those I've glanced at once, if at all. And yet I've perused and read the entire archive of Wapsi strips. I'm even starting to absorb them. There have been other strips whose archives I have poked through extensively, only to ultimately discard them, having decided they were not for me. But Wapsi stuck, and as I have decided to be a follower of [livejournal.com profile] demiurgent's recently-articulated "read what you like" philosophy, I'm going to suck up the pretentious self-analysis and do just that.
