Y'know several people asked me that last year, too. Several others seemed to find the very notion of the pledge baffling, unless I was some sort of pathological liar. My answer to both questions remains the same: that's entirely beside the point. Oh sure, I'm as cagey as the next geek with his heart on his sleeve. I can be coy, and I bite my tongue a lot and elect not to speak my mind. But I don't do this hoping that I'll be given an excuse to air some specific deep dark secret. Sure, it'd be wonderful if I got to confess a furtive and undying love for someone who was entirely out of reach. Very Don Quixote. It isn't going to happen, though. But that's not the point.
